GNU/Linux, the upfront OS, has earned
a good reputation in the desktop
segment in a couple of years. The present GNU/Linux desktops have got
an elegant look and feel along with the simplicity and ease of use.
There is a plethora of choices for the Desktop with choices ranging
from full featured KDE and GNOME desktop environments to Light Weight
and Low on System Resource, Desktops like Icewm, FVWM, XFCE,
Enlightenment, Fluxbox etc.
GNU/Linux is also rich at it's basic use softwares. Till date it has
almost a substitute (some times a better substitute :-) ) for every
software present under MS Windows
Here is a screenshot of my light
weight desktop, ICEWM.
