Hindusim is a religion that is commonly dominant in the Indian sub-continent. Though personally not very religious, I am born in a Hindu family, and was brought up following the Hindu religion. As a religion following human, I do have my favorite god, Lord Shiva - The god of death.

With my website’s this section, my desire is to document whatever I think is true and legitimate. One of the reason is, India (where Hinduism is most common) was invaded by many rulers, from different religions. That led to many of the history not being preserved. We do have some history, that still remains, in tid bits.

This is a topic which has gotten me wondering about what the practices are, that governments in different regions follow. And on what grounds.

Lately, for my day job (to be more efficient for the time I spent), I am required to use Windows, back again. :-)

It is great to be back. By back, I mean using Windows for some of the workflows. All these years, I’ve been using Linux based tools (Debian, Kontact | IceDove, Konq | Chromium | IceWeasel etc) to get my job done. It is great to try back Windows for some of the workflows.

I’m very grateful to the Free Software Eco-System Movement that allowed access to everyone to learn. I got involved with Debian as a user in the early 2000. I became an official Debian Developer in 2010. Debian’s processes and structure still amazes me and I’m very proud to be part of this project.

My contributions to the Debian project can be seen here. I wrote apt- offline (APT Offline Package Manager) when stuck with real-world IT policies. I currently maintain laptop-mode- tools, a tool that can assist your linux kernel in conserving more power.

Nokia has [announced](http://blog.qt.nokia.com/2011/03/07/nokia-and-digia- working-together/) that it is selling off its Qt business. This needed to happen given the change in the company’s strategy. Microsoft is a software vendor providing Mobile OS, with Nokia being one of its consumers. For Nokia, to have a tier 1 alliance with Microsoft, it would have been important for the company to show positive gesture. With this move, Microsoft and Nokia will strengthen their partnership. This move will focus on tighter integration in between the 2 company’s portfolios.

Fishkeeping is a very common hobby and an easy one to start. What’s challenging is is to be able to continue the hobby. Very often most people give up on fish keeping.

Reasons being:

• Water - Gets contaminated too soon.
• Fish - All of a sudden they start dying and you’d hate to see that happen
• Cleanliness - Sometimes, it just becomes a burden cleaning the tank

All the points above are inter-related. If you can crack 1-2 of them, you might have a better experience with your fishkeeping hobby.

I just released laptop-mode-tools version 1.56.

This release adds many goodies. We now have a better calling application to rely upon, udev. The linux kernel generates many events based on conditions. udev is a framework that acts on those events and can call-in applications based on conditions. This is something I wanted to do for laptop- mode-tools.

Power State

First was power state. The power_supply subsystem can sense changes and generate events. We simply act on the change action here and call in laptop-mode-tools because we want laptop-mode-tools run on both ON_AC and ON_BAT

So this past weekend, me and my friend, went on a drive to Yellagiri Hills. It was exciting driving on the highway in an entry level Indian car, Maruti Suzuki Alto.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to the destination. 5 kilometers before the destination, while we were uphill, the car b0rke down. On one of the hair- pin bends where we had to cut down the speed to zero, switch to the 1st and 2nd gear failed. Hmmm!! At that point, we were on a very steep road, with the car stalled and the gear box (for 1st and 2nd ) broken down. Nice!!
